Mobile phones and smart watches in school
St Luke's strongly advises that pupils’ mobile phones are not brought into school; however, the school accepts that there may be circumstances in which a parent requires their child to have a mobile phone. For this reason, pupils with mobile phones in school must switch them off on arrival at school and hand them in to the office at the beginning of the school day. Phones must not be switched on again until pupils leave the school site at the end of the day.
A mobile phone brought into school is entirely at the parents and pupil’s own risk, and the school accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any phone or handheld device brought into school.
Pupils are not permitted to wear smart watches. (Smart watches that are able to send/receive calls or messages or take photographs are treated the same as mobile phones and are not allowed to be used on site.) Where parents or pupils need to contact each other during the school day, they should do so by contacting the school office. An analogue or basic digital watch may be worn. All watches must be removed before PE lessons; please be aware that we do not have a secure place to keep these items. We take absolutely no responsibility for loss or damage to watches that are brought to school. Should children be wearing a smart watch in school, it will be removed, and kept in the school office until the end of the day.
All visitors are requested not to use their phones within school grounds, in keeping with our mobile phone policy.
Thank you for your continued support.
