Dear parents and carers,

We have implemented a new medical tracking system at St Luke's called Safesmart SmartLog.

This system will be used to record first aid treatment and also to record the administration of medication to our pupils. In addition, the system allows parents/carers to receive email notifications of when medication and/or first aid treatment has been administered (emails will be sent as soon as reasonably possible) and parents will also receive a notification when medication held in school is expiring.

In order for this to be used as effectively as possible, please ensure that your contact details and child’s medical conditions are up to date with the school office.

Please be assured for any first aid incident that would be considered significant, we will always attempt to contact parents by telephone as well as using the new medical tracking system.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We have been made aware that for separated parents, an email notification may only be received by the parent with whom the child resides with (so the parent at the same address as the pupil) as recorded on the School Management System. If you do not reside at the primary address on your child's school record but wish to receive notifications regarding the administration of first aid and medication, please contact the school office by emailing [email protected]

For staff to administer medication, including inhalers and epi-pens, parents will need to complete a Med 1 Form.

If your child has medication in school and you are unsure if you have completed the applicable Med 1 Form, for this academic year, please contact the school office and complete it as soon as you are able. Office staff will assist as necessary. Please be reminded, prescription medication must be supplied to school in the original packaging. This must include the original dispensing label with your child’s name on and also any instructions of use enclosed in the box.
