OUTDOOR LEARNING DAY – Wednesday 4^th June 2025

We are delighted to announce an Outdoor Learning Day scheduled to take place on Wednesday 4^th June 2025 at Chetwynd Deer Park in Newport for Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and selected Year 6 pupils!

The trip will take place within normal school hours.  The children will be transported to the park via coach and will be accompanied by members of school staff.  The children will return to school before the end of the school day allowing the normal home time routine to continue.

Please be aware that the children will spend the whole day outside and although they are not required to wear school uniform, they will need to wear weather appropriate suitable outdoor clothes (long-sleeved top, and full-length trousers please).

Due to the nature of the activities, this means NO jeans, NO shorts and NO t-shirts, even if the weather is fine.

They will also need a suitable outdoor coat, sensible footwear (such as wellies) and suitable socks. They may also need trainers for the climbing wall.

Please ensure they have had sun cream applied prior to arriving at school and please include a sun hat to cover all weather possibilities.

They may also need a spare set of clothing, including footwear as they may get wet and/or muddy!

**In adverse weather the children may need a waterproof coat and trousers **

All children will require a packed lunch.  Only children eligible for FSM will receive a packed lunch provided by school on the morning of the trip unless specifically advised, again on ParentPay your child will bring a lunch from home. 

Please provide a labelled water bottle (no glass/cans please) for the children to drink during the day.  Please ensure they have a small rucksack to carry these items.

St Luke’s School Fund are subsidising the cost of this event so parents are being asked to contribute just £12.50 per child and you must confirm your consents by completing the details on ParentPay in FULL.

We will be photographing pupils participating in activities throughout the day but if you do not wish your child to be included, please ensure you carefully check and annotate the consents accordingly.  If you change your mind regarding photographs at any point, please contact St Luke’s prior to the event.                                       

PLEASE ENSURE ALL CHILDREN ARE DRESSED (READY FOR THE DAY) WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT SCHOOL AT 08:57AM ON THE MORNING OF WEDNESDAY 4^th JUNE 2025 TO ENSURE A PROMPT DEPARTURE. 

We will be unable to contact parents for correct clothing, or lunch provisions or to wait for pupils who arrive late.
